Tour
Speeka is dead simple, you can start using it in a few seconds!
Here’s how it looks:
Let’s say you want to create a place for you and your fellow web2.0 enthusiasts, where you can discuss new, exciting and disruptive web projects in your area. You come to the Speeka website, and choose Create topic from navigation on the upper right.
For the new topic, you need to decide how open it will be. The topic can be open to everyone (everyone can read and write), moderated (only people with passwords can write, but anyone can read) or private (password is required even for reading). For general discussions, you’ll probably want open topics, for (collaborative) microblogging moderated ones, and private when you want to have private conversations with your friends (or keep a private log just for yourself, for that matter).
Then you just enter the topic title, and you’re all set! Optionally, you can also edit the topic short name (which will be part of the topic URL) and make it nicer.
That’s it, you’ve just created your topic and can start writing in it! To invite more people to join you, just give them the topic URL.
And finally, the topic page in its full glory. Besides the posts themselves, you can find a list of recently active topics and search for more topics. Right beneath the topic title there are several useful goodies:
- RSS feed for the topic
- ShareThis button makes it easy to tell other about the topic you created
- Archive containing all the previous posts in the topic
- If you’re using the topic for real-time chatting, you’ll find it useful to set your nickname, which will be used to sign all your posts.
We’ve intentionally put as little rules in the service as possible, to allow you to experiment, use topics for forums, chats, lifestreaming, todo lists, and anything else you may think of. We hope to hear your thoughts and ideas, what works for you and what we should improve on.
So, what are you waiting for? Go and speak your mind!
